What is in The BioMechanics Method Corrective Exercise Specialist (TBMM-CES) course curriculum?
To earn your TBMM-CES credential you will complete a comprehensive online course that consists of the following five modules:
- The Fundamentals of Structural Assessment
- Understanding Muscles and Movement
- The Fundamentals of Corrective Exercise
- The Complete Corrective Exercise Library
- Corrective Exercise Program Design
The Fundamentals of Structural Assessment (Module 1)
This learning module teaches a step-by-step process for conducting musculoskeletal assessments so you can identify common imbalances that can cause muscle dysfunction, joint discomfort and movement limitations. You will learn verbal, visual, and hands-on techniques for assessing the feet and ankles, knees, lumbo-pelvic hip girdle, thoracic spine and shoulder girdle, and the neck and head. You will also learn how musculoskeletal imbalances in one area of the body can cause problems in other areas.
Understanding Muscles and Movement (Module 2)
This learning module explains in easy-to-understand terms how the whole body moves together as an integrated series of muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, and fascia; information that is essential for understanding the root causes of musculoskeletal imbalances. It will teach you about major muscle groups in detail, as well as specific muscle origins, insertions, and functions. Most importantly, you will discover the unique approach of The BioMechanics Method in regard to understanding how gravity and ground reaction forces change the way the body moves — knowledge that is imperative for designing effective corrective exercise programs.
The Fundamentals of Corrective Exercise (Module 3)
This learning module builds upon the knowledge and skills learned in Modules 1 and 2, and explains the most effective types of exercises for eliminating lower back, hip, shoulder, knee, neck, foot, and ankle dysfunction caused by common musculoskeletal imbalances. You will learn about self-myofascial release techniques that will enable you to alleviate restrictions in muscles and fascia, stretching exercises to help increase a client’s mobility and range of movement, and strengthening exercises to help people begin to move correctly and without limitations. You will also learn valuable strategies for regressing exercises when necessary, and then progressing exercises as a client’s abilities improve. Specific contraindications for each exercise type are also included to ensure safety and effectiveness.
The Complete Corrective Exercise Library (Module 4)
This learning module contains descriptions and demonstrations of almost 200 of the most effective corrective exercises for addressing musculoskeletal imbalances (including progressions and regressions). The fundamental principles of each corrective exercise category are highlighted and key teaching tips for every exercise are provided. This comprehensive collection of techniques serves as an exercise guide to help you to create programs that are most appropriate for a client’s needs.
Corrective Exercise Program Design (Module 5)
This learning module guides you through the corrective exercise program design process from start to finish, teaching you how to develop and use effective communication strategies when working with clients that have corrective exercise needs. Comprehensive, real-life case studies using actual clients are also included that demonstrate the complete The BioMechanics Method process. In addition to tying together the information from Modules 1-4, this fifth and final module of TBMM-CES course focuses on client communication skills, networking, and referral strategies so you can apply your skills within your scope of practice in the real world.

I am a Fitness Professional as well as Professional Ballroom Dancer and Dance Studio owner. Over my 25 years in business, I have taken many fitness and structural alignment courses and can honestly say this was one of the most thorough and well thought out approaches to handling postural deviations. The amount of information is incredible and presented in a very enjoyable manner. I teach dance & fitness from a postural and alignment basis so this was a wonderful addition to my training. Well worth the investment. (Verified review from Fitness Connect)

This is in line with my training philosophy and style.

I am an ACE-certified Personal Trainer, and this is the first course that I chose to extend my education and knowledge of expertise. The ACE course I found extremely difficult. Mainly because the book was extremely overwhelming and the information provided – although broad – was difficult to piece together. I realised that it didn’t simply give you “A + B = C”, and on the next page it was “B + A = C”. It was more “A”, then you have to find “B” several chapters later, and the answer – “C” – is left for you to figure out yourself. And that’s all you have. It was tiresome, and mentally draining. But with a lot of persistence and studying, fortunately, I passed!
Why do I bring this up? Because The Biomechanics Method CES course was phenomenal at correcting every issue I had when in comparison to the ACE course.
Not only did you state “A + B = C” and “B + A = C”, you included varying analogies, easy-to-understand diagrams, videos that offered different understandings and learning methods, visual vs. audio descriptions, self-check activities, downloadable sheets of information, etc. all designed to enhance the learning experience. Basically, you made *everything* really easy to understand.
For example, one big difference between the ACE course and TBMM CES course, was the study of program design. With ACE, the book gave snippets of information, then a few chapters later devised a program each for a number of clients. There was no “we’ve done this for this reason”, or “we’ve put this here because the client told us this.”, it was simply stated, and you had to piece the information together by going back and forth between random chapters. I.e. “why was this guy doing single arm shoulder presses?”, “because if you look 6 chapters ahead at the injury section, this one sentence states this, which means this, and if you look back to one of the first few chapters, you’ll understand it makes sense”.. you see? It’s a lot of mental effort.
But with TBMM program design, you gave the initial information for the student (i.e. myself) to think about, then you gave a client case study, then a written explanation as to why you’re programming them to do what they do, THEN a video description AND progression throughout each session with the client – this amount of information is incredible, and certainly made it very easy to understand!
I could go on and on about everything I thoroughly enjoyed about this course, but I hope this gives you an idea of how positive and informative I found the experience. But other points include: –
-Ease of understanding (i.e. very easy to read, very well-written)
-Diagrams make perfect sense, not at all confusing, and are included where relevant
-Very well-structured (i.e. the modules are designed in a simple, logical order and smoothly linked to one another)
-There isn’t too much information (i.e. I never once thought “why is he telling me this?”, it all made perfect sense)
-Affordable (some of the best money I’ve ever spent – amazing bang for my buck!)
-Non-scripted clients made for a raw, 100% legitimate learning experience. I particularly liked and appreciated that, during the client case study with Melanie, Justin ensured it was a completely new and genuine client to allow for any curveballs that may be thrown his way, so he can show exactly how to deal with them. Very genuine. I loved it.
I hope my feedback isn’t too overwhelming, but I wanted to give credit where credit was due. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, and I feel great for taking it. I value my time and my education, and this was perfect for me. Absolutely perfect.

I really enjoyed the way the material was presented. I also really liked how Justin explained the material in his videos; it made understanding the material easier. (Verified review from ACE)

TBMM provides a methodical, step-by-step approach in all the materials. As I watched the videos, I often paused and replayed sections to practice the exercises and to feel what he described. The interview section was especially good, because it is not always easy to know how to approach and relate to new clients. Even as I worked through the coursework, I began teaching some of the awareness and methods to my clients. After only two sessions, a client with back and hip pain went on a cruise. She took homework of five exercises to address some of her most pressing problems. With a couple of tennis ball myofascial release techniques and a few simple strengthening exercises, she reported that she was able to sit on a park bench for two hours without any back pain! The practicality of the course is already a confidence builder to my clients (and myself!) as they see the difference that a few doable changes and exercises can make. I’m very glad that I took this course and earned the certification.

I completed the TBMM course and loved it! Last year, I had taken a functional training course elsewhere but wasn’t sure how to apply it. The TBMM course, thanks to its well-organized, repetitive structure in which each chapter naturally flows into the next one, has helped me connect many dots and given me the tools and confidence I’ll need to deliver value to my functional training customers. Highly recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed completing this course. The delivery was detailed, supportive and well thought through. The content was clear and concise and easy to follow – the ongoing link back to the structural assessments and biomechanic imbalances a client may experience further enhanced learning and understanding whilst progressing through each module. The learning opportunities were clearly outlined and the combined delivery of education through videos, theory and practical application allowed the greatest level of understanding. Thank you! I can see this additional skill benefiting my existing and potential new clients and my service offering overall.
Course User –
This course was so well designed and presented in such a way that it made learning some crucial ways to help clients who have functional problems or injuries to do misalignments, over use or even the shoes they wear. It provides every opportunity for you to learn and practice what you learn by providing a review of important facts at the end of each chapter, self check tests and clear demonstrations of each exercise. I had gotten away from reviewing exercise physiology and anatomy and this not only brought me back up to speed but really shed some new light on information I never learned in my masters education. Highly recommend it!
Sophia Duddy –
The course was excellent, very clear and concise, lots of video presentations recap. I thoroughly learned so much even helped my own muscular issues.
Dawn Baker –
This course was outstanding. I loved the video demonstrations, the assessment demonstrations, all the material that was provided with each module. It was very clear and easy to understand. It was well organized. I definitely think any fitness professional that is serious about continuing education and the quality of education they are receiving should add this to their credentials. What is really exciting about it, is we learn step by step how to better understand ourselves and essentially feel what they client will be feeling. It’s another way to practice what we preach. Thank you so much for this! (Verified review from Fitness Connect)
